Looking back, she was so ahead of her time and I of course set out immediately to get married. Now I truly understand what she was trying to tell me.

Losing your temper solves nothng.
When I was young I had a quick temper - took me until my mid-twenties to realize that losing your temper didn't really solve anything.
Losing your temper or arguing with certain people is self-defeating.
Now, my husband will tell me every now and then "Doesn't anything bother you?"
Yes, there are some things that really bother me but I try not to show it. It is extremely rare for me not to hold my temper in check now.
I would have saved myself quite a bit of grief (especially with certain people) if I had learned this sooner.
My mom have not give any relationship or guy advice since I have not reach that point of my life.
